looking north on main, from the intersection of east 75th. when making this triptych I had to give special attention to where the edges of each frame would land within the over all panoramic view. the intention being the least intrusive as possible without sacrificing the initial view.

main and 111th pl
I think it worth noting that as you look at this diptych keep in mind that as this appears to be a pretty straight forward document of a moment in time, it is actually a false sense of reality. individually these two 4x5 frames, on their own, represent exactly what was happening at this particular moment in time. But when the frames are placed next to each other, as intended, they present a single unified picture of a reality that never happened, being that there was about a two or three minute difference in time between the frames being made and the cyclist passing by the man selling objects on the street.

slightly odd looking sign.
(the sign and lot no longer exist and the space is now occupied by a generic looking structure)

between 2004 and 2014 I made photographs around central Los Angeles with my view camera, in the form of single frames, diptychs, triptychs and polyptychs.
